Love Letters from God
My husband gifted me with this great little book for Christmas 642 Things About You (That I Love) by The San Francisco Writers' Grotto. Some of the entries for the writer to compose include "The thing I miss most when we're apart," "The thing I am surprised I miss when we're apart," "The thing I always do when we're apart," and "An ode to the things that make you you." The book gives the writer 642 topics for love letters to their significant other.
Whether you're celebrating Valentine's Day with your number two or someone else you love, celebrating Galentine's Day (I had no idea what this was until today, I am clueless on pop culture), or celebrating Single Awareness Day, I wanted to use this post to discuss celebrating the One who is Love.
Did you know that the Bible is full of love letters from God to you?
If 642 things that someone loves about someone else sounds like a lot, God has an innumerable amount of things that He loves about you.
There were a few Valentine's Days that I felt lonely, the heartbreak of past relationships seemed to grow in their significance. Even though I am blessed to have many different relationships full of love, I realize now that there is one relationship that shows love above and beyond any other. God doesn't just love; He is love.
Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.… ~ 1 John 4:8
Going back to God's love letters to you, let me just share some.
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5
The Lord made no mistakes when forming you. You and everything about you was intentional.
Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ~ Matthew 11:28
God wants you to give all your worries to Him; He will carry them for you.
". . . and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” ~ Matthew 28:20
You never need to fear to be alone. The Lord is always with you.
. . . in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. ~ Ephesians 2:7
The Lord showed the ultimate love for you through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Pastor John Gray’s message Going the Distance had a powerful statement concerning this. He said, "God had faith in you enough to let His Son die just in case you decided to serve Him later.” How is that for Love? That statement still hits me a the core.
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid. ~ John 14:27
The Lord offers you His mighty arms to come to for comfort and peace. He is your safe place.
Let us rejoice and celebrate and give Him the glory. For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. ~ Revelation 19:7
The Lord has prepared your wedding day, a day of celebration for when you meet Him in Heaven.
Here are a few other statements of Love from God.
