Dear Ladies, You are Astoundingly Beautiful Part 2
Dear Ladies, You are Astoundingly Beautiful,
Hi, and welcome to Part 2 of my post series Dear Ladies, You are Astoundingly Beautiful. I am so excited you are here again!
In the last post, the dual beauty God gave women, that of spirit and form, was discussed. All women have these two elements of beauty; they are integral to her. The first post also outlined the three reasons, from my experiences, why women do not believe in their beauty - hurtful words, the culture and media, and the enemy.
For this post, we will talk about the unique and intentional personalities that God gave each of us. I believe, when we are true to ourselves, our beauty can best shine through.
The personality test I used for this post is the Myers-Briggs if you haven't already taken it, take a few minutes and do it here.
The theory behind this personality test is that there are eight preferences or traits which comprise the 16 personalities. Each person has these basic preferences to some extent, and everyone exhibits varying degrees of these preferences or traits between two extremes. The eight preferences or traits are:
energized by quiet time alone ~ Introversion (I) or Extraversion (E) ~ energized by time with others
see patterns and possibilities ~ iNtuition (N) or Sensing (S) ~ pays attention to facts and details
prioritize logic and reason ~ Thinking (T) or Feeling (F) ~ prioritize people and emotions
prefer structure and order ~ Judging (J) or Perceiving (P) ~ prefer freedom and flexibility
It is a combination of four traits that distinguishes your personality type. Learning and knowing your unique personality can help you understand and value yourself for being exactly who God made you to be! God made you unique, special, intentionally, and beautifully. Just prayerfully consider Psalm 139:13-14, take your time and study this verse:
For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.…
Did you notice the amazing truths in this verse? God made you a one of a kind with unique gifts and abilities for the fulfillment of His purposes. Learning about your personality can inspire personal growth, help you better understand your strengths and weaknesses, how you relate to others, what career may suit you best, and how you can further the kingdom as part of the body of Christ.
Now, consider 1 Corinthians 12:12-31. Meditate and prayerfully study these verses. When I do this, I see that I have a unique and special role to play in the body of Christ. I should not compare myself to others or try and be something that I am not, not a "nose" if I am an "eye," because through our individual and beautiful differences, we "are many parts, but one body." ~ 1 Corinthians 12:20. Each person has a different, but an essential part of one whole.
Using myself and my results as an example, I want to demonstrate how my unique personality relates to my work, my divine undertaking, and my spiritual gifts.
So what were my results?
I am an INFJ, introverted, intuitive, feeling, and judging, "The Advocate" (2017).
So what does this mean? Let me explain it a bit more; it is said of INFJs that they are
"Quite and mystical, yet very inspiring, and tireless idealists." "INFJs tend to see helping others as their purpose in life, but while people with this personality type can be found engaging rescue efforts and doing charity work, their real passion is to get to the heart of the issue so that people need not be rescued at all" (16Personalities 2017).
This is pinpoint in accuracy to me. I discussed in the post Why Your Eating Disorder Is Holding You Back From Joy, that I discovered my Chazown, my life purpose, to be helping women see their value in Christ Jesus and through this, live more joyously. This vision, is what drives my choices and this Blog, it is my passion, and I believe it speaks directly to my INFJ personality.
The Meyers-Briggs test also discusses what career options may best suit each personality. For INFJs it states
"First and foremost, INFJs need to find meaning in their work, to know that they are helping and connecting with people." And "INFJs often pursue expressive careers such as writing, elegant communicators that they are, and author many popular blogs, stories and screenplays" (16Personalities 2017).
Hmm, this explains why I began "writing" by age six!
We discussed how my personality relates to my work and my divine undertaking, so now I want to talk about how it relates to my spiritual gifts.
If you are unsure what your spiritual gifts are, a useful site is here.
My spiritual gifts are mercy, exhortation, faith, helping, and leadership.
The spiritual gift of mercy coincides with the feeling and advocacy aspect of my personality.
The spiritual gift of exhortation which seeks to uplift and motivate others coincides with the inspirational aspect of my personality.
The spiritual gift of faith - confidence, certainty, trust, and assurance in the Lord - corresponds I believe to the high personal values INFJs hold.
The spiritual gift of helping relates fully to the advocacy nature of my personality.
Finally, the spiritual gift of leadership relates to the diplomatic quality of my personality type.
I know this was a lot about me, but I wanted to use my results as an illustration for everything discussed, how God created me uniquely to fulfill His purposes and how my beautiful uniqueness helps me know who I am and what I should do.
Revealing your beauty is about knowing who you are, who God made you to be, and who you are through and in Christ. So, this is what I would for like you to do. . .
