To the Woman Who Doesn't Know Where She Stands with God
To the woman who doesn't know where she stands with God,
I have been there. I remember sitting in a high school FCA meeting and our speaker declaring that she knew with full confidence her eternal standing and unity with God. She knew that when she died, she would be in perpetuity looking into the face of the Creator. As she spoke, I wondered how she knew this, how did she have such assurance?
As a member of FCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, you would think I too would know where I stood with God, but I didn't. I would define my "Christianity" as believing that there was a God, very abstract, but not knowing much else. I didn't attend a church, and I didn't read the Word. I knew some isolated Bible stories from attending Sabbath School as a young child, but that was it.
In college, I took a brief interest in the Bahá’í Faith. In short, this belief system believes that all world faiths are the foundation of the one God. All faiths are true and valid. The Bahá’í Faith was a feel good belief for the lost college student I was.
It was several years later, years of struggling with an eating disorder and having little self-worth, that I finally found Jesus and with that, my assurance in where I stand with God.
So, I want to help you, friend, if you are struggling to know where you stand with God.

The Truth about You
Contrary to what the world says about you, let me tell the truth about you. God created you, in His image, and He knew you even before you began to grow in your mother's womb.
"Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them." ~ Genesis 1:26-27
"For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb." ~ Psalm 139:13
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” ~ Jeremiah 1:5
Not only did God create you, but you were also created intentionally and uniquely, loved fiercely by God. ~ CLICK TO TWEET
"Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His love endures forever." ~ Psalm 136:26
"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." ~ Ephesians 2:10
The Truth about Sin
Humanity has always had its own standards of social righteousness. However, these are often contradictory to biblical righteousness. Spiritual values can easily get mixed up in even seemingly innocuous behaviors.
"Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter." ~ Isaiah 5:20
The fact is that we are all sinners because we are all descendants of Adam and Eve, who ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which sounds harmless enough, except that it was in direct disobedience of God. Thus, we all are subject to sin, and this sin separates us from God and causes many difficulties in life.
"We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all." ~ Isaiah 53:6
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," ~ Romans 3:23
"Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear." ~ Isaiah 59:1-2
You and I, we are all sinners. And because we are sinners, we need a Savior. ~ CLICK TO TWEET
The Truth about Our Savior
In the darkness of a sinful, fallen world, there is hope. God had a plan in motion from the beginning, and it is His son Jesus Christ.
Jesus lived on earth as a man and lived a spotless, sinless life. He offered Himself freely as a perfect sacrifice just in the hope that you or I or anyone would believe in Him.
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”)." ~ Matthew 1:23
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. He was with God in the beginning. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." ~ John 1:1-5
"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin." ~ Hebrews 4:14-15
Jesus conquered death and arose resurrected after three days thus showing he authority over sin and death. The sacrifice Jesus made on the cross was for your salvation if you chose to believe and follow Him.
"regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord." ~ Romans 1:3-4
"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures," ~ 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
"For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority." ~ Colossians 2:9-10

"After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” ~ Acts 1:9-11
"which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ," ~ 1 Timothy 6:14-15
The Truth about Salvation
The sacrifice Jesus made on the cross was for your salvation if you chose to believe and follow Him.
We have a Christ-shaped hole in our hearts that nothing, nothing, NOTHING in this World can ever fill, not money, health, beauty, fame, possessions, pleasure, status, knowledge, or relationships.
Nothing can fill the void except Christ. The Holy Ghost is here on earth and makes us aware of our need for Jesus. This is the core of the human condition.
C.S. Lewis stated, “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”
The other world is eternity with God in Heaven. You can have this, salvation and reconciliation are the free gifts of Grace, this is the Good News sister.
We can never do enough good works to make up our sin; only when we put our trust and faith in Christ Jesus we are saved and our sins forgiven. It doesn't matter what you have done, who you were, where you have been, Jesus died so that anyone, and this includes you, who calls on His name will be saved!
Jesus is pursuing you; He will continually pursue you. You aren't lost, you are loved, and He is calling you home. ~ CLICK TO TWEET
